Shred-A-Thon

  • South Delta Baptist Church 1988 56 Street Delta, BC, V4L 2B1 Canada (map)

Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 8 – Delta (RCMSAR08) is hosting its fourth annual by-donation shred-a-thon.

This is your opportunity to securely clear your shelves – and boxes and drawers – of paperwork while helping save lives on the water!!

Get all your sensitive documents shredded on Saturday, May 10, 2025 in the parking of South Delta Baptist Church, 1988 56th Street, Tsawwassen, BC

Cash and Visa donations will be accepted, with proceeds to support Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 8 – Delta. A $20 donation per box is suggested.

As a charity, we depend on donor support to help us meet the cost of saving lives on the water. Our volunteers give their time in communities across B.C. for free, but they need training, well-maintained equipment, rescue boats and on-shore facilities. Your support means our RCMSAR volunteers, who put themselves in harm’s way in all kinds of conditions at sea, can save lives and stay safe.

Why should I shred?

Shredding is a great way to free storage space in your home or office by getting rid of paper you no longer need. It's also a safe way to dispose of documents and ensure they don’t get into the wrong hands. That’s why RCMSAR08 is working with a bonded recycling company, to provide the free shredding service.

Another benefit of shredding? Every ton of paper that gets recycled saves 17 trees.c

What should I shred?

Consider disposing of financial information, legal documents, credit card receipts, medical records, contracts, office files, archive files and papers that you have electronic copies of. Remember retention rules before destroying any business records. For example, the Canada Revenue Agency stipulates keeping business records for seven years.
